11 Steps for Perfect Prom Dresses

1. Begin your search for your Prom Dresses early. You may not have a date yet, but you will want to start looking at fashion magazines and stores as early as three to four months before your prom.
2. Make sure you don’t pick one that everyone else will have, you should be different, just be yourself.
3. Plan your budget for your Cheap Prom Dresses and begin saving as soon as possible. Be sure to allow extra cash for small accessories like hair clips, pantyhose, and make-up.
4. Watch some celebrity red carpet events and take notes on your favorite styles. You may just be able to find Blue Prom Dresses in your local boutique.
5. Try on dresses in a variety of different styles and cuts to find the one that works best for your body. If you have a slim figure, you may look best in Sheath Prom Dresses that shows off your silhouette. If you are curvy, you may want to consider an A-Line Prom Dresses that will highlight your waist and minimize your hips and thighs. If you’re short and petite, dress shopping may be a nightmare; Cocktail Dresses become full gowns and party dresses become Cocktail Dresses. If you’re looking for a longer dress, look for a short dress that is long on you. It will fit better and will fit you everywhere else without being too long.
6. Once you have narrowed your choices to one particular prom dress style, try on that style in a variety of different colors and finishes. Look for a glamorous shade that brings out color in your face. When choosing a fabric finish, keep in mind that shinier finishes will tend to show off figure flaws while matte finishes, like Coffee Prom Dresses will obscure and diminish undesirable features.
7. Start shopping for shoes and accessories; this should be done in advance of 2 or more months for the Prom or Formal dance. This way, if you have chosen shoes and bag you can try it all on together at the Dress Shop, if you change your mind, you can at least return the bag and shoes if time allows, and you will only have to pay the lay away fee rather than getting stuck with an expensive dress no one else would necessarily want.
8. Plan to choose and purchase your prom dress at least four to six weeks before your prom. Most formal gowns (including prom dresses) require alterations for a perfect fit, and you will want to allow enough time to complete these alterations.
9. Make sure that you don’t purchase your dress too far in advance, as before big events you can easily loose and gain weight, from stress or anything else, e.g. periods, boyfriend troubles, stress, season (winter versus spring).
10. A couple of weeks before your prom try on your dress with your shoes, jewelry, make-up, and hairstyle to be sure you like the finished look. Walk and move around in your prom dress a little to give it a comfort check.
11. On the night of your prom, put your dress on before applying make-up or styling your hair. This will not prevent any make-up smudges or product stains on your so called “fabulous” prom dress
Warnings
• Sometimes when shopping with friends, especially for a big item such as a Formal or Prom Dress, they can say it doesn’t look good, thought it might, as they want it. So take your mom or sister first, and choose a few dresses, then take friends for final selection.

Pick the Right Color for Prom

Prom dresses trends are one thing, but choosing a gown in a color that’s flattering to your skin tone is what will really make you pop on prom night. If all the fashion mags are saying metallics, but these colors make you look washed out and pasty, don’t be afraid to go against the grain in order to look your best. After all, prom night is something you’ll remember for the rest of your life – don’t you want your pictures to capture you looking your best?
The first step in determining which prom dress colors will look best is to analyze your skin’s overall tone and undertones. This can be difficult to determine, so try putting on a white shirt and hold a white sheet of paper next to your face while standing in the most natural light possible. You should be able to pick up subtle variations using this method – for example, you may notice that your skin has a slightly yellow tone or that your undertones take on more of a bluish tint,so you should choose pink prom dresses.
Traditionally, skin tones are broken down into two groups – warm and cool undertones. If the white shirt and paper experiment reveals yellow, beige, brown or olive undertones, you’re considered to have a warm skin tone. The colors that will be most flattering to you will be tones in the Earth tone family, including yellows, reds or browns. On the other hand, if you discover undertones of blue, pink, rose or purple, you’re considered to have a cool skin tone. Look for blue prom dresses, purple prom dresses or green prom dresses to best flatter your skin tone.
Another way to determine which prom dress colors will be most flattering to your coloring is to take a closer look at the pupils of your eyes. Although we typically classify ourselves as having blue, green or brown eyes, most of us actually have many smaller flecks and variations in the color of our eyes. For example, even though your eyes appear brown, you may have small flecks of green or amber that become apparent on closer observation. Matching the color of your prom dress to the color variations in your pupils can be extremely flattering.
Finally, if you’re still at a loss for which prom dress colors will be most flattering for you, think back to the items in your wardrobe that have earned you the most compliments. Do people comment on how flattering a certain shirt or jacket is on you? Or do you get rave reviews every time you wear a particular scarf or accessory? Look for common color trends among your favorite pieces – if all your compliment-worthy articles are red, it’s safe to assume that red prom dresses will be a good pick for your prom dress.
When you’re shopping for prom dresses, don’t just settle for the first trendy frock that enters your field of vision. Prom night is a big night and you’ll be looking over the pictures of the event for a long time to come. Take the time to find the classic prom dresses – one that’s not only fashionable, but also flattering to your natural skin tone and coloring.

Get a dress without going broke

Like most things related to my prom, I don’t want to spend a ton of money. (Have I mentioned how expensive the catering bill is going to be?) My prom dresses are no different. – I want something cute and flattering, such as Blue Prom Dresses or Red Prom Dresses, but I don’t want to spend thousands or even hundreds of dollars. Here are some tips for you to choose your Prom Dresses.
First things first: Dress resale
Now, the thought of  used Prom Dresses may cause some peoples to gasp in horror, but this really is a good option. Think of it in terms of buying a new car. The minute you drive it off the lot, it immediately loses value. The same goes for new Prom dresses. You spend a bundle, and if you try to sell it later, it’s worth way less than you paid. That works out well for people like me, who are completely okay with the idea of a gently used Prom Dress. Once the dress is cleaned and pressed, it will look as good as new. (It was only worn once!)
Bridal boutique deals
Cheap prom dresses are a great way to save money ,provided you are satisfied with the size and color. I spoke with a sales associate from Modern Bride in Bedford at a bridal expo and she said that the shop would sell you the Classic Prom Dress in most styles at 50 percent off.
I have friends who were able to purchase this kind of dresses without any problems, and I do have the excuse that I need the Prom Dresses in 5 months. But when I see their Modest Prom Dresses, I can’t help to take my MasterCard out and get a new one.
Use the power of the internet
I love the internet for all things prom related, and I’ll be sharing some of my favorite money-saving sites in a future post. For now, let me tell you about the wealth of sites out there for Prom Dresses.
Internet retailers are often able to sell the same product you see in a boutique at a much lower price than their brick and mortar counterparts simply because they don’t have the same overhead costs. The savings get passed to you, the customer. One example of this is houseofbrides.com.The site sells Gold Prom Dresses for 20 percent to 30 percent off the retail price. If you’ve got your eye on a dress you saw in a magazine, I’d check here first. Most dress orders take less than 2 weeks. The only thing I don’t like about this site is that it keeps “sold” dress in the listings. It’s kind of annoying seeing a dress you love that’s unavailable. But I am delighted they are improving. Most importantly, I like their design styles, and the price is certainly right – and I am sure that their design of Sexy Prom Dresses will surprise you and make you look even more beautiful than you actually are.
